Blown extrusion LLDPE stretch film. High puncture, high cling, high tear resistance, strong load-holding. Indicated where Cast yields. Same channel and DDP terms as Cast. Sourced from separate producers on the same audit cycle.
Blown LLDPE is the engineering answer to loads that defeat Cast. Manufactured by extruding molten LLDPE into a vertical bubble several metres tall, the blown process orients the polymer differently. The result is higher puncture resistance per micron, superior tear strength, stronger load-holding force, and a high degree of cling memory.
Where Cast tears, Blown holds. Where Cast slides, Blown grips. The trade-off is slightly higher cost per kilogram, lower optical clarity, and a noisier unwind. For loads that justify it, the trade is straightforward.
Pallets with sharp metal corners. Stacked engineered components. Construction materials. Mixed-SKU loads with irregular geometry. High-tier loads where containment is the operating risk. Routes with shock and vibration profiles that would unseat a Cast wrap. Long-haul export pallets that need a margin of safety on the wrap.
| Process | Blown extrusion. Vertical bubble, multi-layer where specified. |
|---|---|
| Puncture resistance | Order of magnitude above Cast at equivalent gauge. |
| Tear strength | High. Indicated for sharp and irregular loads. |
| Cling | High-cling formulation. One-side or two-side. |
| Memory | High. Holds the load through transit shock. |
| Optical clarity | Slightly hazy compared to Cast. Trade-off for strength. |
| Unwind | Noisier than Cast. Acceptable in most industrial environments. |

Distributors quoting against retailer protocols often run a sample comparison: high pre-stretch Cast at the lower end of the gauge range against Blown at the same or one step lower. The test center in Limassol replicates the retailer acceleration profile under EUMOS 40509 to settle the choice quantitatively, and instruments puncture, cling, and containment force across both options.
For loads that move on regulated road freight in Europe, DIN EN 12195-1 governs the securing-force calculation. Blown gives a wider margin against the calculation when puncture or stack stability is the binding constraint.
